Upon graduating from the M.F.A. program in Theatre for Young Audiences, Yasu's shows have been recognized nationally and internationally. Honors include winning the International Performance for Youth Jim Rye Fellowship, the Elizabeth & Don Doyle Fellowship by American Alliance for Theatre & Education, and a RAW Honolulu Performing Artist of the Year nomination among others. He is the Founding Artistic Director of Bento Rakugo, which toured all six Hawaiian islands and the mainland at venues such as the Touhill Performing Art Center and Stage Left.
